Cabling for Distributed Antenna Systems

Cabling for DAS is normally installed early in the construction phase although may be installed post-facility construction, with plenum-rated coaxial or fiber optic cables run from a main “head-end” (often in an IT room) to antenna locations. The cabling must be handled carefully—often by hand—to avoid kinking or crushing, particularly with plenum cables that are mostly air. Integration involves passive or active components (splitters/couplers) to distribute cellular signals throughout the building.
